People have commented that the council have not included their comments in relation to the proposed travellers search
area on the council consultancy site. The Race Relations Act (1976) imposes certain requirement on councils as to how they
deal with representations - if you have any comments to make on the travellers search area and for information on what are
considered valid planning matters, please see here before making any comments.
Please, keep in mind your comments should relate to the core strategy proposals and should not concern any individuals
or group of individuals.

The Spatial Strategy
Point 1: In a nutshell: The council's preference is to
NOT release any of the green belt land in the Urban Fringe (the green area to the North of Killingworth and Backworth) for development, until all other alternative land including "safeguarded land" has been used up?
view green belt diagram or see
Option 8 in the Core Strategy. For example, you may think the council should designate other land as green belt or give other land the same protection from development.
Point 3: In a nutshell: The council's preference is for a "dispersed distribution" of development across the main urban area of the borough except for extensive wedges of green space around Killingworth and Murton. View the proposed retained
green wedge areas (green arrows) around Killingworth and Murton; or see
Option 12 in the Core Strategy. As an example, you may think the council should retain other wedges of green space near where you live.

Point 18: This option identifies 10 Key Housing sites (areas shaded with pink diagonal lines on cs map). If you disagree with the sites identified please provide details in the space below. This could include suggestions of alternative sites.
Point 19: This option identifies 8 Key Employment Sites (areas shaded with blue diagonal lines on cs map). If you disagree with the sites identified please provide details in the space below.
Point 20: This option concerns the proposed search areas for the Gypsy/Traveller site on Sandy Lane and the A19 corridor (yellow dashed areas on cs map). North Tyneside Council's preferred option is to not look anywhere other than Sandy Lane and the A19 south of the Killingworth exit. If you disagree with the proposed "search area" you may want to suggest alternatives. For example, you may think NTC should not restrict itself to the proposed search area and should consider all sites across North Tyneside based on community needs and planning merits. You may think the council should adopt the approach of other councils such as
Wiltshire Council or follow guidance on needs such as in
ODPM Circular 01/2006.
Point 21: This option concerns a proposed search area for Waste Sites. North Tyneside Council's preferred option is to look in the areas dotted grey on the Core Strategy Map for sites. If you disagree with the proposed "search area" you may want to suggest alternatives.
