In the face of confusing official/unofficial reports, both party politicals and inaccurate news reports all prone to misinterpretation. We outline some important facts about the Core Strategy proposals...

If Holystone Action Group hadn't told you about the Council's proposals, you probably wouldn't know about them.

There was only ONE consultation event in the Holystone area (a 3-Day event at ASDA during the working day and holidays).

If the House Building proposals go ahead this would lead to a projected extra 12,000 cars per day past ASDA and along the Holystone by-pass.

There is NO GUARANTEE that 25% is the maximum amount of Social Housing on any housing development site. The core strategy preferred target is actually borough wide with each housing site percentage based on what the Council will NEED at the time.

The new Waste Management facility at Blaydon can deal with ALL North Tyneside's waste (automatically recycling a minimum 80%) - there is no need for any landfill or new facilities in North Tyneside - and only one wheelie bin per house.

North Tyneside Council's 2010 Statement of Community Involvement Consultation involved just 22 written replies (out of an increased population of 196,000) - and only one reply from a resident who commented"This document, like many others emanating from your organisation, purports to be a public information dissemination exercise..Rubbish..! How many of the normal, everyday people of North Tyneside, or anywhere else, can be bothered, or the patience to negotiate their way through this deliberately tortuous procedure..."

The two-page article in the July 2010's Widening Horizons magazine did NOT MENTION ANYTHING about Holystone (Scaffold Hill),Shiremoor/Backworth, Hadrian Lodge (Station Road) in relation to ANY development or search area. Nor was it delivered to a large part of Holystone.
