and Officers.
Please make every effort to attend one of these events and view the councils proposals. Please remember,
the council will tell you that "nothing is decided yet", but don't let this deter you from
giving your own views.
North Tyneside council have already decided what it prefers to do; what it wants to do.
This public consultation of the councils preferences for new development and planning
for the next 17 years, is for you to give your views on what North Tyneside Council wants to
do. Unless there is a significant change of direction, the Council's core strategy preferences
is what the council WILL DO. Once the core strategy is adopted, there is very little that can be done to stop the council
giving formal planning approval to any proposal outlined in the core strategy.
"...whilst you can have your say on individual planning applications as they
arise, it is important to remember that these will be determined on the basis of the statutory
planning documents in the Local Development Framework [including the Core Strategy]. That is why
it is vital that you have your say early in the planning process - i.e. when the planning documents
are being produced."
"Officers will consider all the information...but the policy documents that make up the
Statutory Development Plan [including the core strategy] are usually the main basis for the
determination of applications. This is why it is important to get involved at this stage
in the planning process so that the content of these documents accurately reflect and take
into account the views of your community."
